• Honoring Kayla & Sholom Rogatsky

  Kayla and Sholom Rogatsky moved to Westchester from Brooklyn and became part of the Leffell School community in 2019.
  
  

  Kayla worked as a paralegal for over 15 years while simultaneously pursuing her passion for yoga, completing a teacher training program and leading classes in the evenings. She has shared her love of yoga with children, teaching at Camp Ramah and Westchester Summer Day. In addition to her professional and teaching experience, Kayla takes pride in her role as a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoys cooking, reading, practicing yoga, and giving back to the Leffell School community, where she serves as a Vice President of the PTO.

  
  Sholom took over his father’s construction business at a young age and has since built a successful career as a contractor. Committed to service and personal growth, he previously volunteered with the Coast Guard Auxiliary and is currently training to become an EMT through Hatzalah. Additionally, he spent many years studying hilchot shechitah (the laws of kosher ritual slaughter). In his free time, Sholom enjoys spending time with family, barbecuing, problem-solving, and embarking on long road trips.
  
  

  Coming from large families with many siblings, both Kayla and Sholom have a deep-rooted commitment to helping others. They and their children, Aden (Grade 11), Aaron (Grade 7), and Amelia (Grade 2), are honored to be part of the Leffell School community and to support its mission.

• M. Mac Schwebel z"l

  M. Mac Schwebel z"l was one of the most instrumental individuals in the success of The Leffell School (formerly Schechter Westchester). Many Jewish organizations benefited from his wisdom and generosity; however, he would have told you it is of our school that he was most proud. His tireless efforts resulted in this once tiny school becoming one of the most respected Jewish day schools in the United States. The Leffell School is extremely fortunate and grateful that Mac expressed his dedication to Jewish education by providing the founding gift that made possible the establishment of our High School in 2001.
  
  An avid golfer, Mac owned the Sherbrooke Golf Club in Lake Worth, Florida. Until his passing in 2015, he enjoyed parring his course daily.
  
  Mac was indeed a pillar of our community. We owe much gratitude to Mac for his constant help, generosity, and efforts on behalf of our school community. May his memory be for a blessing.
