The Leffell Experience

Community and Character, Inspiration and Innovation

Inside and outside the classroom, on our campuses and around the globe, Leffell School students are inspired to challenge themselves intellectually, to nurture their passions and talents, and to chart their own paths toward full immersion in the Jewish community and full immersion in the modern world.

Engineering and Design

We were one of the first schools in the region to offer an engineering makerspace, and our program now features four such laboratories, across both campuses. From the time they are in the Lower School, our students are taught to tinker and build, work collaboratively, and solve problems with creativity and fearlessness. The capstone is our nationally recognized High School program in Engineering and Entrepreneurship, which sends over 40% of its graduates to college programs in engineering or computer science and has inspired several alumni to pursue United States patents for their inventions.

Co-Curricular Passions

Our program inspires students to discover and nurture their passions from a very young age. Student-athletes compete for league, sectional, and state championships against top public school athletics programs. Aspiring musicians and actors learn instruments, join our bands, and demonstrate their talents in our theatrical performances. Upper School students participate in mock trial, model UN, moot beit din, or one of dozens of other enriching club opportunities.

Character

The most important mission of our school is to produce adults who embody strong values and unwavering kindness. This is achieved through a purposeful K-12 program, including midat hachodesh (value of the month), social/emotional learning and advisory programs, derekh eretz (interpersonal conduct) assessments, a myriad of community service opportunities, and other elements—all embedded in a milieu of adult role models who prioritize treating others with respect at all times.

Joyful Judaism and Love of Israel

The Leffell School environment is characterized by an all-encompassing ethos of traditional, joyful Jewish practice. Engaging text study in the classroom promotes deep Judaic literacy, while memorable holiday celebrations and Jewish experiences shape the course of our students' lives. Thoughtful curricular integration ensures that the same crucial values and academic skills are reinforced in both general and Judaic studies courses. Love of the people, language, and State of Israel pervades every element in our program, culminating in the trip of a lifetime: the eight-week senior Lev v'Nefesh (Heart and Soul) experience in Poland and Israel.
