Eric Bassin (MS 1990)
High School Principal
Eric Bassin has served as the High School Principal since 2012. He first joined our faculty in 2001 with the inauguration of the High School after three years of teaching at Milken Community High School in California, where he also launched and coordinated that school's senior WISE program—the first independent school in the nation to do so. Mr. Bassin's former roles in the High School include assistant principal, dean of students, history department chair, WISE program coordinator, and history teacher, as well as advisor to the mock trial team and student newspaper. In addition to his responsibilities as principal, he also teaches a senior government course and ninth-grade tefilah education course, while also serving as a ninth-grade advisor. Mr. Bassin has long been involved in Jewish education, whether teaching Hebrew school, serving as a synagogue youth director, or working at Camp Ramah in the Berkshires. In 2006, he was named one of Westchester's “40 Under 40 Rising Stars” by the Westchester Business Council. Originally from Hartsdale, New York, Mr. Bassin attended Schechter Westchester as a student from kindergarten through eighth grade and earned his BA in government from Harvard University and his master's degree of professional studies in educational leadership from Manhattanville College. He holds administrative certification from New York State as a school administrator and supervisor (SAS) and a school district administrator (SDA). Mr. Bassin lives in White Plains with his wife, Sheryl, and his two daughters.
